A Book and a Chat with Diane Doniol-Valcroze

When your father is Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, co-founder of the New Wave magazine CAHIERS DU CINEMA, and from her grandfather, French filmmaker André Cayatte (original THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES), it is not surprising that Diane Doniol-Valcroze as a young girl, she developed a passion for writing.

Born in Paris, France, Diane e earned a B.A. in English literature from the Sorbonne University, and an M.F.A. in film from New York University while apprenticing on the Lauren Hutton show. It was while at New York University she met Arthur K. Flam and together they have co-written screen plays for such films as Lionsgate's PENNY DREADFUL, starring Mimi Rogers, and MGM's HIT AND RUN, helmed by Enda McCallion and starring Kevin Corrigan.

Now the two of them have produced their debut book 41 STRANGE.

41 STRANGE, a first-of-its-kind e-book anthology devoted exclusively to “short-short stories of the strange and horrifying,” awaits just a couple of clicks away for Kindle readers who enjoy a good shiver up their spines. The book delivers a reading experience in the spirit of such masters of the macabre as Edgar Allan Poe, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, and Rod Serling.  Many of the stories were written “in the lonely hour of the wolf … in the pre-dawn darkness when you get those ‘waking nightmares.’” .

As one reviewer wrote “… gruesome and skillfully assembled… Each story is a quick read that abundantly satisfies the audience’s thirst and appetite for horrific plots… these short horror stories provide great entertainment…”

With a second book already underway, we will I am sure hear a lot more from these talented authors.

So listen now and share an interesting and entertaining show as I chat with my special guest today on A Book and a Chat with Diane Doniol-Valcroze

A Book and a Chat Jen Malone

As always its great fun to have a debut author on the show, and while right now this debut novel for Jen Malone, she already had a series and YA book already planned to come out over the next two years.
Jen Malone writes books for tweens and teens.

Her debut novel “At Your Service” published in August 2014 with Simon & Schuster/Aladdin M!X. Next up is a new series, co-authored with Gail Nall called RSVP(also with Simon & Schuster), followed by a young adult novel, Wanderlost with HarperCollins. Jen lives outside Boston with her family and teaches at Boston University. She loves school visits, getting mail, and hedgehogs.

Well that is what he short profile states, in fact there is so much more to Jen, from traveling around the world, to the touch job of working as a publicist for 20th Century Fox.  Super tough work, she "had to" walk the red carpet alongside George Clooney, hang in a hotel room with a shirtless Mark Wahlberg (so what if his wife was there too) and sleep in Oprah's hotel room at The Four Seasons (she'd checked out early and, I mean, we'd already paid for the room, so...).

She even was told by a psychic that she would write a book with a purple cover and live in a big white house by the water. Imagine her surprise when she first laid eyes on the cover Simon & Schuster designed for AT YOUR SERVICE… Now she is waiting for the big white house.

About “At Your Service”

Chloe Turner has pretty much the BEST life. She gets to live in the super fancy Hotel St. Michele, New York City is her home town and her dad Mitchell Turner, concierge extraordinaire, is teaching her all the secrets of the business so she can follow in his footsteps. After helping him out with a particularly difficult kid client, Chloe is appointed the official junior concierge tending to the hotel’s smallest, though sometimes most demanding, guests.

Her new position comes with tons of perks like cupcake parties, backstage passes to concerts, and even private fittings with the hippest clothing designers. But Chloe hasn’t faced her toughest challenge yet. When three young royals, (including a real-life PRINCE!) come to stay, Chloe’s determined to prove once and for all just how good she is at her job. But the trip is a disaster, especially when the youngest disappears. Now it’s up to Chloe to save the day. Can she find the missing princess before it becomes international news?

A Book and a Chat with Lyn Croft

My guest on today’s “A Book and a Chat” is Lyn Croft, a sci-fi fantasy writer born and raised in sunny Southern California. There, she raises her daughter, works full time, writes novels, and plays video games in her spare time. Her debut novel “Blood & Lilies” was the first in “Bloodlines” a series of epic tales for the battle between good and evil.

This successful novel has now been followed, perhaps with the aid of y Buffy and Angel DVD’s; by book two “Blood and Kindred”.

About “Blood and Kindred”:

Cara expected a relaxing spring break, free from studying, free from exams. Instead, her reality has been crushed as she is thrown into a world of the supernatural and finds out that the very battle between Heaven and Hell centers around her. Halflings, Vampyres, and Werewolves are now part of her reality as she struggles to survive.

Her best friend is now a vampyre and Zillah, the ancient vampyre queen is still hot on her trail. New enemies emerge as lost loved ones resurface. In this exciting sequel to BLOOD and LILIES, the Halflings fight to protect the key while everywhere they turn; they face betrayal and new enemies.

Will Eamon lose Cara forever when she finds out the secrets behind the Halfling’s heritage and learns what she truly is? Or will Zillah finally win in her quest and open the portal between all realms, destroying our mortal reality and the key along with it?

A Book and a Chat with Mike Faricy

My guest on today's "A Book and a Chat" is award winning author Mike Faricy .  His novels are an addictive combination of mystery and suspense woven together with a rich strain of humor and a bit of romance.

Always into books from an early age Mike entertaining and engrossing tales are filled with the sort of quirky, oddball characters many would like to know more about, but wisely prefer to keep at a distance. Many of the characters serve, not so much as examples of real people, but more as warnings to the rest of us of the darker side of humanity. Readers will not find characters who are saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies, or coups to topple the government. Rather, they are part of our world, living just below the surface of polite society. The difficulties the characters find themselves in are usually due to their own bad decisions, but then, bad decisions make for interesting tales.

From Mike’s first book “Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick” his crime novel which now number 14 include seven in the marvelous series which introduces us to the bizarrely devilish Devlin Haskell as a PI with a foot on both sides of the law. From the first book in the series “Russian Roulette” through others such as “Mr. Softee “ and “Bite Me” to his latest release the “Ting-a-ling”.

About “Ting-A-Ling”

Continuing the Dev Haskell - Private Investigator Series with Case 7

After answering Danielle’s middle of the night phone call, private investigator Dev Haskell offers to help. It’s a simple task. All he has to do is deliver a message to her former business partner. The next thing he knows, Dev is involved in a missing person case and he can’t find his client or her business partner. That turns out to be the least of his problems when he finds himself on the hook for murder and all the evidence points toward him.

Meanwhile, an incident from his childhood continues to haunt Dev. With his very freedom hanging in the balance everything seems to be beyond his control. He’ll need all his skill and a good deal of luck to save himself. In a tale fraught with danger, Mike Faricy, Master of the Bizarre lays one twist on top of another until a murder rap becomes the least of Dev’s problems.

A Book and a Chat with Mary Crockett

My guest today is Mary Crockett, an award winning poet and one of the co-authors of a great new YA novel "Dream Boy".

Mary wrote her first poem at the age of 8, an epic about impending nuclear holocaust being diverted by a plucky little eight-year-old girl and her legion of insect friends. Amy and the Ants” was written in rhyming couplets and went on for several pages. Sadly, it was never finished.

Though her first income was for being a hand model for a toilet seat. She continued to write award winning poetry.  Deciding to move on to writing novel Mary paired up with author Madelyn Rosenberg, the result of which is a debut and really entertaining YA novel “Dream Boy”.

About “Dream Boy”:

Annabelle Manning feels like she’s doing time at her high school in Chilton, Virginia. She has her friends at her lunchtime table of nobodies. What she doesn’t have are possibilities. Or a date for Homecoming. Things get more interesting at night, when she spends time with the boy of her dreams. But the blue-eyed boy with the fairytale smile is just that—a dream. Until the Friday afternoon he walks into her chemistry class.

One of friends suspects he’s an alien. Another is pretty sure it’s all one big case of dĂ©jĂ  vu. While Annabelle doesn’t know what to think, she’s willing to believe that the charming Martin Zirkle may just be her dream come true. But as Annabelle discovers the truth behind dreams—where they come from and what they mean—she is forced to face a dark reality she had not expected. More than just Martin has arrived in Chilton. As Annabelle learns, if dreams can come true, so can nightmares.

In other words this great book could be summed up as…

Girl dreams boy. Girl meets boy. Girl, boy, and friends save universe

Sally has been passionate about writing since she was nine years old. She’s won prizes for her poetry, stories, songs and plays. She began  meditation in her teens. When Earth is invited to join the Collective, the holos choose Clara as liaison between Earth and the Many Worlds Collective to make the secret visits public and guide Earth’s new leaders.

While Earthers adjust their beliefs and ideas about life, religion, culture, identity and everything they think and are, rebellions and conflicts arise. The Collective works with Clara to create the Psi-Warriors who fight the leaders of the resistance, the Psi-Defiers. With multiple re-sets needed to revise the past and future to save lives, in which of the timelines in the multiverse does her love, Epifanio Dang, get to be with Clara? Over Clara’s thirty-year term as Chief Communicator, Earthers must undergo major transformations.

A Book and a Chat with H. A. Somerled

H. A. Somerled (Heather) todays guest on “A Book and a Chat”  lives in the Missoula, Montana area.

After an uneventful tour in the U.S. Navy, she followed her passions and enrolled in Culinary School. She graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art and has also completed a writing course from the Long Ridge Writer’s Group.

From an early age Heather wrote little stories including one about her morning routine where her mother says “Now is the time is the time is the time.” In eighth grade she had a teacher who encouraged pupils to write a journal and hand it in every week. Heather wrote about a creature in her locker (named the Lockerness Monster) who ate her homework, stole one gym sock or shoe, and caused her a lot of grief in middle school. Since then she has written short stories whenever the inspiration hit her.

After watching Sherlock and The Adventures of Merlin and fascinated by the two main actors, (Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Morgan) Heather thought they could play brothers. Then she thought they could be a police officer and a smart ass brother who always got in trouble. Threw in a female American hacker to spice things up, and it blossomed into her debut novel “Angel’s Code”, which is now closely followed by “Angel’s Betrayal” both part of the “Angel Hacker Series”.

About “Angel’s Betrayal”

Its summertime and insects are not the only thing flying in the London skies. Oliver and Danny Murray return in this explosive second in the series novel. When two C.I.A. agents appear in Oliver Murray’s office, he knows nothing good could come from it. An American drone has gone missing and the agents believe the one of their own has taken it. The agent’s name is Sara Parsons, also known as Fallen Angel. Maintaining her innocence, Angel tries to find the real thief, but when one of the agents sent to arrest her turns up dead in her flat, Oliver has a hard time believing her. With the help from his brother, Danny, Oliver betrays his own instincts and decides to help Angel find the true murderer and drone thief.

As one reviewer put it… “Intelligent and fast paced, the action is very fun to read with the author's irreverent humor sprinkled throughout the story”. The name H.A. Somerled is one to look for on your book shelves.

A Book and a Chat with Suzanne Palmeiri

Every so often I get contacted by or have the name of a new author sent to me to see if I think they “might be a good fit for the show”. It is rare that I ever say no, however if the author is a fellow Connecticut author. So I was at the time glad to have her as a guest and now am equally glad to have her back again to find out what she has been up to since our last chat.

After her success with her two debut books  “The Witch of Little Italy” is a book that has international success and . “I’ll Be Seeing You,” co written with Loretta Nyhan under the name of Suzanne Hayes. Comes two more books that are already proving that the quality of success of those debut books was no one off.

In Suzanne's  thrilling new novel, The Witch of Belladonna Bay, readers will learn if love and magic are enough to bring a broken family back together. She along once again with co writer Loretta Nyhan has produced "The Empire Girls" riveting tale of two sisters, set in the intoxicating world of New York City during the Roaring Twenties.

About "The Witch of Belladonna Bay" : (taken from RJ Julia)

Are love and magic enough to bring a broken family back together? The answer can be found in Suzanne Palmieri’s enchanting new novel, The Witch of Belladonna Bay featuring the incomparable Bronwyn – and her magic – once again. This is the much anticipated follow-up to Suzanne’s debut, The Witch of Little Italy, which received high praise.

In The Witch of Belladonna Bay, Bronwyn is forced to return home to Magnolia Creek, Alabama—a place she hasn’t been since her mother, Naomi, died fourteen years earlier—and the troubled family she left behind. With her brother Patrick behind bars for the murder of her childhood friend and her eccentric father, Jackson, at wits end with her eleven year old niece Byrd, Bronwyn finds herself back at her childhood home, the Big House, and surrounded by ancient Magnolia trees dripping with Spanish moss. But before she can even take in what she left behind, she’s wrapped up in the mysteries surrounding the murder and what the “Strange Ways” running through little Byrd might mean. As Bronwyn unravels the secrets behind the murder, long forgotten memories surface, and the magic living quietly inside of her grows stronger, creating an unbreakable bond between her and Byrd—a bond that will define both of their fates forever.

About "Empire Girls":

Ivy and Rose Adams may be sisters, but they're nothing alike. Rose, the eldest, is the responsible one, while Ivy is spirited and brazen. After the unexpected death of their father, the women are left to reconcile the estate, when they make a shocking discovery: not only has their father left them in financial ruin, but he has also bequeathed their beloved family house to a brother they never knew existed. With only a photograph to guide the way, Ivy and Rose embark to New York City, determined to find this mysterious man and reclaim what is rightfully theirs.

Once in New York, temptations abound at every turn, and soon the sisters are drawn into the glitzy underbelly of Manhattan, where they must overcome their differences and learn to trust each other if they're going to survive in the big city and find their brother. Filled with unforgettable characters and charm, Empire Girls is a love letter to 1920s New York, and a captivating story of the unspoken bond between sisters.

A Book and a Chat with Bruce Sarte

Making a welcome return on today’s “A Book and a Chat” is my guest Bruce Sarte.

An accomplished songwriter with two gold records to his credit, Bruce lives just outside of Philadelphia with his wife and three children. In addition to writing, he enjoys baseball, playing guitar, reading, church, cooking and being a dad. Bruce grew up at the Jersey Shore (the picture is at Point Pleasant Beach, where Sands of Time is set) and graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, NJ where he first became enthralled with reading and writing. From his early influences Bruce was introduced to and fell in love with Shakespeare, Marlow, Henry James and Nathaniel Hawthorne. In addition to his books, Bruce has written for The Bleacher Report, The Father Life and The Examiner.

Bruce has published the vampire thriller Sands of Time, the paranormal murder mystery Towering Pines Volume One: Room 509, the story of how God selected The Star of Christmas, stories in the horror anthology Bump in the Night 2010, Bump in the Night 2011 and Bump in the Night 2013 horror anthologies; plus the Kindle/Nook only offerings -- the historical mystery of Sweet Nessie, the top selling horror short-story Best Friends Forever about two friends who have been kidnapped by a secretive cult and The Show Must Go On, a story about an old theater and its last gasp of breathe... literally.

The thrilling detective novels, Philadelphia Story (Lance Carter #1) and The Insider's Story (Lance Carter #2) have stormed to the top of the Amazon charts quickly after their release.

We learned during the show that "Sands of Time" is being re-written for a TV film, also about brice's latest book due to be released the end of this month The Kill Commission" which introduces us to a new character in the shape of Tim Rutherford.

About "The Kill Commission"

When Tim Rutherford's daughter is brutally murdered, it opens up a chasm inside of him that can only be filled by one thing -- justice. But, when justice fails his little girl this highly trained federal agent realizes there is only one way to fill the chasm: revenge.

And The Kill Commission is just the group to give it to him.

The Commission is filled with people just like Tim, all have been wronged by the justice system -- and all want their own slice of revenge. And they've recruited Tim to do their dirty work. Tim sets forth doing the Commission's dirty work until he realizes that they aren't what they seem -- and he has to right the wrongs that have been done.

Currently, plans are in the works to make three of the earlier novels “SPY DANCE”, “A WOMAN OF VALOR”, and “DARK AMBITION” to be made into movies. As we learned a screenwriter has already been hired by a producer to write a screenplay for SPY DANCE, and it is nearing completion.--

About “The Argentine Triangle”: (taken from Amazon)

After a fall from grace and drastic cosmetic surgery in Switzerland, former CIA director Craig Page is enjoying a new, exhilarating life racing cars across Europe. But when new dangers threaten America and an old friend goes missing during a covert mission in Argentina, will Craig be ready to step up to the plate?

Undercover in the glamorous world of Buenos Aires' wealthy elite, Page finds himself on the brink of a terrible discovery. General Estrada and Colonel Schiller have plans for Argentina, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. A world of brutality hidden in the classified secrets of Argentina's Dirty War comes to light, painting an image of the cataclysmic future awaiting Estrada's South America. To expose Estrada and put an end to his plot, Page is forced to implement every instinct, skill, and tool in his arsenal. But when it comes time to close in for the kill, Page meets with unexpected complications-love, lust, and a lethal game of cat and mouse.

Hard on the heels of The Russian Endgame comes Allan Topol's next great thriller.

A Book and a Chat with Renee Bernard

THE ANNUAL RT BOOKLOVERS CONVENTION AND 700 AUTHORS BRING “THE BIG READ” TO THE BIG EASY!

So reads the hand out about the 31st Romantic Times or as it's now called RT Convention, one the the hundreds of guest authors and speakers at the event is today's guest on "A Book and a Chat "Renne Bernard."

What in the world is a retired Navy chaplain's daughter doing writing scorching hot historical romances? Renee Bernard is applying a great education from traveling all over the world to story telling and doing her best to keep her father proud. Truthfully, her father is her number one fan, even though he has sworn never to read a single word of her books (a vow he has kept to this day!) Nothing stops him from telling everyone he knows that his daughter is now a USA Today Bestselling author or from handing out bookmarks on the golf course. Love can make even a minister do strange things!

Renee Bernard is a freelance writer and a contributor to Romantic Times Bookclub magazine. A Lady's Pleasure (Pocket Books, November 2006) was her first novel and won an award from RT for "Best First Historical Romance of 2006". She also wrote a story for the School of Heiresses anthology (Pocket Books, January 2007), which made the USA Today Bestseller List. Madame's Deception, was nominated for "Best Sensual Historical of 2007" by RT and A Rogue's Game, the final installment in the Mistress Trilogy, received 4 ½ stars and a Top Pick from RT and is available now.

Her next books, "The Jaded Gentlemen Series", are available now. The first book in the series, Revenge Wears Rubies (Berkley, March 2010) was nominated for best Sensual Historical of 2010 by RT's reviewers. Seduction Wears Sapphires (Berkley, August 2010) is out now and Ecstasy Wears Emeralds (Berkley, September 2011) will be available for pre-order soon!

About "Desire Wears Diamonds" (A Jaded Gentleman Novel)

WHEN BETRAYAL IS THE ONLY PATH OPEN AND PASSION IS THE ONLY ENEMY HE NEVER ANTICIPATED . . .

The shy soldier and self-appointed guardian of the Jaded, Michael Rutherford, is faced with the ultimate test of his loyalty and honor when he meets the woman who is at once his perfect match and the worst choice he could ever make. The final battle with the Jaded’s greatest enemy will force him to choose between the brotherhood he has vowed to protect and shielding the innocent lady he comes to love. For Michael, it is a dance with the devil for a chance to taste the kisses of an angel.

Grace Porter is no ordinary wallflower or shy spinster hiding in the shadows of her brother’s London home. She is a quiet rebel with secrets of her own and a woman who dreams of an independent life, free to pursue her dreams as a writer. Her imagination holds the key to her survival, but it fuels her retreat from the colorless world around her. Until Michael Rutherford’s arrival upturns her every fantasy and threatens her sanctuary with his lies. His embrace is intoxicating to her senses but Grace isn’t the kind of woman to lose her head—or her heart.

It’s a knuckle-biting race to the finish for fans of the Jaded as fan favorite, Michael Rutherford, discovers the identity of the Jackal and Michael learns that sometimes the price to pay for justice is the sacrifice of hope and happiness. He will risk everything as the Jaded call him out as a traitor and nothing is what it seems.

Renee currently lives in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California. (Note an interesting proximity to great wineries!)

A Book and a Chat with Helene Dunbar

Helene Dunbar is today's guest on a Book and a Chat, and though this is her debut book she has been a freelance writer for some years covering subjects from court cases, theater, and Native American Indian tribes to features about fiddles & accordions.

Her debut novel is a moving and thought provoking YA novel "These Gentle Wounds".

The idea for These Gentle Wounds came from an unfortunate number of true cases, some of which Helene once wrote about for an educational book series. In a 2010 case in New York State, one of the children survived and she started to wonder what his life would be like. Helene followed the real life story and the boy’s life is nothing like Gordie’s. For better or worse.

About "These Gentle Wounds":

Sometimes I wish I'd lost a leg or something. Everyone can understand that. They never get it when what's been broken is inside your head.

Five years after an unspeakable tragedy that changed him forever, Gordie Allen has made a new home with his half-brother Kevin. Their arrangement works since Kevin is the only person who can protect Gordie at school and keep him focused on getting his life back on track.

But just when it seems like things are becoming normal, Gordie's biological father comes back into the picture, demanding a place in his life. Now there's nothing to stop Gordie from falling into a tailspin that could cost him everything--including his relationship with Sarah, the first girl he's trusted with the truth. With his world spinning out of control, the only one who can help Gordie is himself . . . if he can find the strength to confront the past and take back his future.

With a second book already in the editing stage for release next year, I am sure the name Helene Dunbar will continue to be on the must read YA list.

A Book and a Chat with Leonard Roller

From ancient Greece to the 21st century, poets have gazed at the heavens, trying to unlock the mystery and beauty of the cosmos in verse. In his charming new collection, DARKLIGHT, Leonard H. Roller, one of those poetic seekers, leavens his fascination with the cosmos and love of writing poetry with a gentle humor that will leave readers chuckling while they ponder the great celestial questions and What It All Means.

In the 77 poems in DARKLIGHT, Roller employs a range of poetic styles – from classical sonnets to free verse – to present his unique vision of such astronomical concepts as black holes, dark energy, the “Big Bang” theory, white dwarf stars , multiverses, the possible beginning and end of our universe and the existence of God.

Readers need not be well-versed in such subjects – or in poetry itself – to enjoy Roller’s poems. His writing is user-friendly and will appeal to those who love poetry, are intrigued by cosmology, as well as those looking for something different, a touch of profundity, but refreshingly free of pretense and confusing obscurity. Roller’s ideas and writing style go down easily. Simply put, the poems in DARKLIGHT are fun.

Roller holds advanced degrees in journalism and literature, is well-read in physics and astronomy. His love affair with the heavens began as a “star struck” boy peering into the night sky through a telescope given to him as a birthday gift. Though infatuated with poetry throughout his life, he began to take writing poetry seriously after reading a book by actor Stephen Fry titled “The Ode Less Traveled,” a manual on poetic style and form.

“I discovered that I really wanted to write poems,” Roller says. Astronomy and things celestial became natural subjects for him. In time, he started to send his work to literary magazines, where many of his poems were published.

Roller’s poetry reflects his darkly humorous view of the universe. “It has both a light side and a dark side. I don’t know what God had in mind, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that He made the world – and us -- tongue-in-cheek, a cosmic cocktail of tears and laughter.”

The imagery of Roller’s poems is striking and amusing. A black hole is likened to a gobbling troll, a quasar to a wedding feast, the death of stars to the fading of a movie queen:

As time and celestial taste go by,
They are no longer stellar queens.
Whether with a shriek or a sigh,
They leave the screen.

Roller hopes his poems will encourage readers to think a little about where we came from and where we’re going, “...about what we’re doing here and why.”

A Book and a Chat with Glenn Ogura

On todays "A Book and a Chat" I have debut author Glenn Ogura.

In his book "Startup" Glenn  displays all the skills of a veteran storyteller. Using much of his own working experience Glenn has created in "Startup"  a roller-coaster ride of a book that finds the sweet spot between the legal suspense tales of John Grisham and the science-fiction thrillers of Michael Crichton.

Kirkus Reviews has hailed STARTUP as “a solid business thriller … reminiscent of John Grisham's THE FIRM.”

About "Startup" :

Set in California's Silicon Valley, "Startup" follows a young idealist/entrepreneur, Zack Penny, as he strives to achieve his dream of creating a new company that will launch an international revolution in technology through the creation of wallpaper-thin displays that will completely surround a viewer. Zack works for a highly successful company called Display Technik, run by CEO Allen Henley, whose vision is based on a success-at-all-costs philosophy. Zack sees Henley as a mentor, but Zack's philosophy favors high morals and values over Henley's ruthless, end-justifies-the-means model of doing business.

Zack's dream takes root one morning when he discovers an important paper has been taken from his office. Someone has exposed Zack's secret plan to break away from Display Technik and start his own company. Henley gives Zack another chance to pledge his loyalty to the firm, but Zack resigns instead, more determined than ever to realize his vision.

Soon, the optimistic if naive Zack steps into his new facility with high hopes for success. Henley, however, has already launched a plan to destroy Zack, his company, and Zack's relationship with Henley's daughter, Mary Anne.

Asked to describe his book Glenn says... “STARTUP is a story about greed and corruption … it addresses the issue of morals and ethics in business (and in life) which are certainly controversial topics in the headlines

A Book and a Chat with Ana Koza

Children's author Ana Koza is todays guest on "A Book and a Chat"

Ana has recently released two books for kids aged 6-8, THE MAGIC WORDS and AROUND THE WORLD, both of which will be a great addition to both schools  and libraries, as well as a great book to share with young readers.

THE MAGIC WORDS tells the story of how Tommy learns to say “the magic words” that his mother explains to him, as he enjoys his days riding his bike, spending time at school, eating his favorite foods, playing in the park and doing all the kinds of stuff other boys his age do each day. Tommy comes to find from his loving and caring mom that learning to say PLEASE and THANK YOU opens up a world to him he never knew.
THE MAGIC WORDS are beautifully illustrated by Gisela Margarito

AROUND THE WORLD is seen through the eyes of 6-year old Ellie who shows other kids about the big, wide and wonderful world we live in. In the pages of AROUND THE WORLD, Ellie visits her friend Madhu in India who helps her mom make dishes like Paneer Tikka Masala (cheese with tangy tomato sauce), her soccer player pal Eric in Australia, Jessica in Mexico who loves Mariachi music to Abassi in Nigeria who reads before he goes to bed each night in Africa. Ellie also visits the animals that live in Antarctica too, like penguins and seals. ATW is a dazzlingly charming book that will certainly thrill many youngsters.

Being a full-time mom is hard work, but I do my best to manage my time to share my stories with you. I steadfastly believe in the importance of good manners, respecting others and empowerment through self-confidence, as I teach these virtues to my kids daily.  It is with great hope that my stories will trigger your child's imagination!

A Book and a Chat with Liz Czukas

Liz Czukas collects college degrees she doesn’t use, types too loud, and always has a song stuck in her head. She is also one of the YA debut authors in the Class of 2K14 and author of one of the best YA books of this year in the form of “Ask Again Later”.

Having Liz in today’s “A Book and a Chat” was something I had been looking forward to after reading about her and the reviews of this debut book, and the show was no disappointment.

From an early age Liz has always dabbled in writing, not thinking she could make a career of it. Instead she studied Anthropology (Indiana Jones inspired), History (because she loves all kinds of stories), Classics (more stories), then Nursing (because she needed a job), then Midwifery. Along the way she even learned Spanish though only the words that she might use with a woman giving birth.

Liz got serious again when her son was born, using nap times to create her novels. After a couple of false starts she wrote “Ask Again Later” which was snapped up by a publisher and has opened the flood gates for Liz’s creative writing.

About “Ask Again Later” :

Despite what her name might suggest, Heart has zero interest in complicated romance. So when her brilliant plan to go to prom with a group of friends is disrupted by two surprise invites, Heart knows there's only one drama-free solution: flip a coin.

Heads: The jock. He might spend all night staring at his ex or throw up in the limo, but how bad can her brother's best friend really be?

Tails: The theater geek...with a secret. What could be better than a guy who shares all Heart's interests--even if he wants to share all his feelings?

Heart's simple coin flip has somehow given her the chance to live out both dates. But where her prom night ends up might be the most surprising thing of all...

With a second book “Top Ten Clues your Clueless” already on the way the name of Liz Czukas is one that will continue to delight all those lovers of YA literature.
